Some core challenges of PR and the role of the retweet

August 9, 2010

Each day I become more convinced that Twitter is the ultimate media relations tool.
Here is why:
For years, PR people have tried a myriad of tactics to:

Get journalists/bloggers to notice them
Ensure journalists/bloggers knew that they (the PR pro) knew the journalist’s/blogger’s area(s) of interest and were familiar with the journalist/blogger’s work

How 5 historical figures might have harnessed social media

August 3, 2010

Social media is very much of the here and now. It is the newest of the new.
Still, certain figures from the past would have grasped, employed and benefited from these channels were they alive today.
Here’s a list of folks from the past that I believe would have harnessed the power of social media. Below, I [...]

Twitter and the mood of the nation

July 30, 2010

July 20, 2010

Swiss watch maker Hublot recently had brand ambassador Usain Bolt compete against 10 kids in a charity event. The event raised 100,000 US Dollars for the foundation bearing Bolt’s name. The Foundation focuses on education, health and development campaigns in Jamaica.
Of course, the kids beat the fastest man on Earth in the race…
Nice idea. Brands [...]
